Rock Earth Day with Dave Matthews’ Eco Friendly Wines

0

In honor of Earth Day (April 22), I’ve decided to pay homage to Dave Mathews’ environmentally friendly wine line. Did you know the South African American musician and award-winning Sonoma County winemaker Sean McKenzie have been making wine in Geyserville, CA since 2011? Me neither!

For those of you who know me know, I’ve been an advocate for the environment since the olden days. You know back when we all thought a hashtag was a pound sign. Back in the 90’s, us “greenies” were taking sucker punches in the name of Mother Earth well before it was hip to be a hipster. A lot has changed since the grunge days. Nowadays, being a called a tree-huger is a term of endearment, instead of a dirty word. Hang on, I know, I should clarify. I live in the bubble that is the Bay Area. I can’t speak to the rest of the country, but around these parts going green is a good thing.

But I digress, Less: MOI More: WINE!

As I was saying, in honor of Earth Day, we are toasting the man who eats too much, drinks too much, and wants too much, by totally crushing on Dave Matthews’ The Dreaming Tree Wines. Dave Matthews and winemaker Sean McKenzie teamed up to make wines that are good for your palate, your pocket book, and the planet, and if you ask me that’s a very good thing.

The Dreaming Tree Wines Eco Friendly Facts

Earth Day is celebrated every year on the 22nd of April. In 1970, a senator from Wisconsin, USA, Gaylord Nelson first conceived of this day.

The senator was worried about the rate of industrialization and the careless attitude of everyone towards our environment.

I could not resist leaving you with these beautiful lyrics by Dave Matthews. I’m sure this song will be stuck in your head all of Earth Day and beyond.

“The Dreaming Tree”

Standing here
The old man said to me
Long before these crowded streets
Here stood my dreaming tree
Below it he would sit
For hours at a time
Now progress takes away
What forever took to find
Now he’s falling hard
He feels the falling dark
How he longs to be
Beneath his dreaming tree
Conquered fear to climb
A moment froze in time
When the girl who first he kissed
Promised him she’d be his
Remembered mother’s words
There beneath the tree
No matter what the world
You’ll always be my baby
Mommy come quick
The dreaming tree has died
The air is growing thick
A fear he cannot hide
The dreaming tree has died
Oh have you no pity
This thing I do
I do not deny it
All through this smile
As crooked as danger
I do not deny
I know in my mind
I would leave you now
If I had the strength to
I would leave you up
To your own devices
Will you not talk
Can you take pity
I don’t ask much
But won’t you speak
Please
From the start
She knew she had it made
Easy up ’til then
For sure she’d make the grade
Adorers came in hordes
To lay down in her wake
She gave it all she had
But treasures slowly fade
Now she’s falling hard
She feels the fall of dark
How did this fall apart
She drinks to fill it up
A smile of sweetest flowers
Wilted so and soured
Black tears stain the cheeks
That once were so admired
She thinks when she was small
There on her father’s knee
How he had promised her
You’ll always be my baby
Daddy come quick
The dreaming tree has died
I can’t find my way home
There is no place to hide
The dreaming tree has died
Oh if I had the strength
Take me back
Save me please
