Paso Robles Wine Country: A New Frontier (VIDEO)

California Wine Pioneers

After traveling to Paso Robles in October 2013, I wasn’t the least bit surprised when I heard the news that Wine Enthusiast named Paso Robles the 2013 Wine Region of the Year. Paso Robles Wine Country is exactly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on the Central Coast of California. The wine region was established in 1983 and expanded twice since then. Paso Robles produces more than 40 winegrape varieties – from Spanish to Italian, Bordeaux to Rhône, including the area’s heritage variety Zinfandel. The styles of wine they make are as diverse as the people and winemakers behind the bottle.

Monique Soltani Paso RoblesI’m a California girl to the core: I grew up in Los Angeles, went to college in Orange County, lived in Fresno and moved to San Francisco four years ago. So I must admit I’m embarrassed that I only recently visited this wine country gas tank getaway for the first time in October. Paso’s first impression, left me impressed with its incredible eats, exciting wines and personalities a plenty.  I invite you to watch this video and take a walk on the wild side with me to meet the trailblazers and pack leaders a head of the herd. Tune in as we travel home on the range where the bold and the brave come to play. Find out what makes these Rhone Rangers so fierce and see why in Paso Robles Wine Country anything goes and I mean ANYTHING!
